The Executive Director of Farm Aid called Lincoln Crow for assistance in drafting a national legislative campaign plan to help independent farmers transform U. S. farm policy.
Family farmers have seen their share of consumer food dollars drop to only 18 cents, but consumers continue to see food prices climb.
Who has benefited? Giant integrated corporations who control prices in seeds, fertilizers, grain storage, feed lots, slaughterhouses, meat processors, and grocery stores.
Lincoln Crow met with state-based farm groups interested in the legislative campaign to assess their capacity to engage in a national fight. Although we found some recent local victories against factory farms, most organizations were not prepared for a bruising sustained Congressional fight.
